From the GCH Guitar Accademy, the developer that brought you the free software tool Free Metronome, comes another handy application that musicians are sure to like: Free Guitar Tuner. This application will help you tune your guitar by playing a reference note for you. Pick the type of guitar, click on the cord you want, and the application will play the sound you should hear from a correctly tuned guitar.
You will find the Free Guitar Tuner installation file in a 4.7MB archive. A simple setup wizard will help you get the application up and running on your PC when you run said file. To run Free Guitar Tuner, your system must meet the following minimum system requirements: Pentium 233 processor, 16MB of RAM, video card capable of 800x600 resolution, 16-bit sound card. Any modern PC, even a low spec one, will easily meet these requirements.
The application’s interface is divided into two sections: to the left there are buttons for switching from one guitar type to another and for muting the sound; to the right several cords are displayed. Click on a cord and a green dot will light up underneath it. There’s a also a volume slider in the bottom right of the application’s interface.
As mentioned above, Free Guitar Tuner helps you tune your guitar by playing a reference note. Select the guitar type by clicking the buttons on the left hand side of the application’s interface, then click on a cord, and Free Guitar Tuner will play the sound that the cord should make when it is correctly tuned. Need a free tool to help you tune your guitar? I don’t see why you wouldn’t use Free Guitar Tuner.
Pros
Free Guitar Tuner’s system requirements are very low; it will take little time to get the application up and running. There’s a handy User Guide, but I doubt you’ll need it as the application’s interface is incredibly straightforward. Pick between several types of guitars. The application is freeware.
